Description

What kind of wine it is

Stephane Regnault Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Chromatique enhances the essence of Chardonnay. Produced according to the Traditional Method, this organic sparkling wine presents a straw yellow colour with golden highlights. On the nose, clear floral notes and fragrant citrus hints emerge. On the palate, the sip is precise and dry, supported by vibrant freshness and an intense mineral texture, all accompanied by a fine and elegant perlage.

Where it comes from

The grapes for this blend come from vineyards located in the Grand Cru villages of Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. In these prime areas for Champagne, the geological composition plays a fundamental role: in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, the vines sink their roots into chalky soils, while Oger offers richer soils. The result is a harmonious balance between tension and structure. The selection enhances specific plots such as Chemin de Flavigny, Moulin and Hautes-Mottes, highlighting every nuance of the original terroir.

How it is produced

Vinification follows a rigorous single-plot approach, respecting the vocation of the soils. Fermentation occurs spontaneously thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts. The process continues in stainless steel tanks and in used barrels, a choice that defines the character of the wine without masking the purity of the fruit. Thanks to its marked palate cleanliness, it represents an ideal pairing for seafood starters, dishes based on lean fish, and fresh or delicate cheeses.

History and Curiosities

The Chromatique by Stéphane Regnault is an exceptional Champagne Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru, born from the union of Chardonnay grapes grown between the rich soils of Oger and the chalky lands of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. This organic multi-vintage cuvée enhances the terroir through spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Expertly vinified in steel and used barrels, this Extra Brut Champagne offers an intensely fresh and mineral sip, enriched by a fine perlage and delicate floral and citrus aromas.

The domaine includes four hectares of Chardonnay divided equally between the legendary chalk terroirs of the Grand Cru villages Oger and Le Mesnil. The majority of the vines are between 40 and 60 years old. Stéphane has selected three parcels for his cuvées: Chemin de Flavigny in Oger, Moulin on the border between Oger and Le Mesnil, and Hautes-Mottes in Le Mesnil. These single-vineyard, multi-vintage wines harmonize the individual expression of the vineyard within the multivintage Champenois tradition. Each parcel is fermented and vinified in a similar fashion - ⅔ in stainless steel tanks and ⅓ in used barrels. Read more
