Description
What kind of wine it is
Montepiazzo is a still red wine that clearly expresses the character of Valpolicella Classico Superiore. With an intense ruby red colour, it reveals a deep aromatic profile with hints of cherry wood and wild berries. On the palate, it is vigorous and elegant, with a fruity and enveloping sip. The tasting is enhanced by notes of maraschino cherry, cloves and vanilla, balanced by a pleasant acidity that leads to a long fruity finish.
Where it comes from
This red originates in the Valpolicella Classico area, in Veneto, within the historic estates of Serego Alighieri. Present in the region for over six hundred and fifty years, the winery boasts a deep connection with local viticulture. The oenological project is overseen by the Masi Technical Group to preserve the authentic identity of the area. The influence of the Veneto soil makes it a faithful interpreter of the territory, ideal paired with grilled red meats and flavourful aged cheeses.
How it is produced
Montepiazzo is a blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara varieties. Its identity is defined by the use of an exclusive Molinara clone, safeguarded by Serego Alighieri, which brings distinctive aromatic nuances. The maturation in the cellar involves ageing in cherry wood barrels, a traditional practice that enriches the profile with spicy notes and hints of vanilla. To fully appreciate the complexity of its flavour profile, it is recommended to decant for one hour and serve between sixteen and eighteen degrees Celsius.
History and Curiosities
