Description

What type of wine it is

Alghero Torbato Spumante Metodo Classico Brut Oscari by Sella & Mosca is a sparkling wine with a controlled designation of origin, an authentic expression of Sardinia. Obtained from Torbato grapes, it comes to life thanks to the Traditional Method, a technique that enhances its aromatic freshness. In the glass, it shows a bright straw yellow, crossed by a fine and lively perlage with a silky texture. The olfactory bouquet ranges from delicate acacia flowers to touches of pink grapefruit, fading into elegant hints of bread crust, anticipating a dynamic profile ideal for those who appreciate a dry and vertical sip.

Where it comes from

This sparkling wine is born in Alghero, in north-western Sardinia, in a coastal environment that gives the wine its unmistakable character. The grapes come from historic vineyards trained using the Sardinian pergola system, an ideal method for protecting the clusters and preserving the aromatic richness of the Torbato. The vineyards benefit from their proximity to the sea, a characteristic that flows into the glass with a marked iodised trail. The local ecosystem gives this label a deep consistency of flavour, translating the territory into a sparkling wine of absolute precision.

How it is produced

The early harvest at the beginning of September preserves the natural acidic tension of the grapes. In the cellar, the process involves a soft pressing of the bunches and cold static decanting. The first fermentation in stainless steel excludes malolactic fermentation to maintain freshness. The second fermentation in the bottle follows the principles of the Traditional Method, completed by a targeted ageing on the lees in steel.

History and curiosities

Sella & Mosca celebrates Sardinia with OSCARì, an elegant Metodo Classico born from the rare indigenous Torbato grape variety. In Alghero, these historic twenty-year-old vines enrich the history of this sparkling wine. A point of interest concerns its aesthetics: the artistic label features a line drawing of a person in a suit, lending a sophisticated touch to the bottle.
