Description

What kind of wine it is

Anemone Rosato by Sella & Mosca is an organic rosé that elegantly expresses the character of Alghero. Made from a blend of Sangiovese and Cannonau grapes, it stands out for its delicate pink colour with violet highlights. The aromatic bouquet is fragrant, ranging from notes of rose petals, violet, raspberry and peach, complemented by citrus accents and distinct marine hints. On the palate, it is lively, driven by a fresh acidity that gives balance and dynamism. The sip offers a sensation of crisp pulp, finishing with a pleasantly dry finish. It is ideal served chilled alongside light starters, asparagus dishes, lean fish and white meats.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in north-western Sardinia, in the coastal area of Alghero. The twenty-year-old vineyards of Sella & Mosca are cultivated using the spur-pruned cordon and Sardinian pergola systems. The vines sink their roots into warm, sandy soils, a matrix that gives the wine extreme aromatic clarity and great smoothness. The Mediterranean climate and the constant influence of the sea impart savoury nuances and clear aromas to the glass, defining the clear geographical identity of the production. The organic farming approach enhances the varietal expressiveness of the grapes in an authentic way.

How it is produced

The cellar process is designed to preserve the integrity of the primary aromas. Vinification involves a quick pressing of the grapes and a very brief contact of the must with the skins, essential for extracting a delicate colour shade and limiting tannins. After static cold settling, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. To maintain the fruit's liveliness, the wine matures for a short period in steel, with no ageing in barrels. The result is a linear, dry and extremely precise flavour profile.

History and Curiosities

Born in the splendid Sardinia, the Anemone Rosato comes to life in the historic Sella & Mosca Estates in Alghero, on warm, sandy soils. Created by oenologist Giovanni Pinna, this excellent organic Alghero DOC expresses the full potential of twenty-year-old vines trained in the Sardinian pergola style. Combining a strictly sustainable approach with Mediterranean charm, the wine stands out for its extraordinary drinkability and its ability to evolve in the bottle until 2030. A vibrant sip that encapsulates the authentic soul of the island.

Sella & Mosca is one of the most important wineries in Sardinia, whose history began over a century ago when two Piedmontese men, the lawyer Mosca and the engineer Sella, reclaimed the land where the 540 hectares of vines now stand. On Xtrawine great attention is devoted to Sella & Mosca wines featuring bottles that have received major awards from Bibenda, Gambero Rosso and AIS, with an ageing capacity of 10 to 15 years. Today, the Cantina Sella & Mosca is owned by the Campari Group, which continues the production of bottles with the sunny character typical of the area in which they are located and involves the production of: Vermentino, Cannonau, Torbato and Carignano.
