Description
What kind of wine it is
Valpolicella Classico Superiore Montegradella by Sartori is a still red wine that embodies the identity of Veneto. It is created from a meticulous blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Croatina grapes, revealing a structured and elegant profile in perfect balance between freshness and fruity notes. On the palate, it is round and silky, with a harmonious and persistent sip characterised by hints of cherry, blackcurrant and typical nuances of bitter almond. Its well-developed tannic structure makes it an ideal pairing for roast meats, game and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This red originates from the hills north of Verona, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica. The vineyards of the Montegradella estate rest on clay-limestone soils, which give the wine a deep ruby colour and remarkable aromatic richness. The area benefits from a protected microclimate, with mild autumns influenced by the proximity of Lake Garda. The natural barrier of the Lessini Mountains shields the vines from cold northern winds, encouraging a slow and complete ripening of the grapes.
How it is produced
Production begins with a selection of the grape bunches and gentle pressing. During fermentation, the saignée technique is applied, allowing the must to concentrate in contact with the skins, naturally intensifying the colour and tannins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine undergoes a prolonged ageing in large oak barrels and cement vats. The process concludes with a resting period, essential for harmonising the delicate spicy notes and ensuring optimal flavour persistence.

The heir, endowed with a superfine palate, like a tailor, was able to 'sew' with extreme care the wines to propose to his clientele, which grew year after year.
After the Second World War, numbers also soared. Then, in 1952, when Regolo passed away, his two sons took over the business, opening it up to the foreign market.
The 1990s marked a turning point in the management of Casa Vinicola Sartori, which saw the entry of the Sartori family into the Board of Directors of the Colognola ai Colli winery to implement an ambitious growth project in the production and distribution of wines at a worldwide level. A goal successfully achieved. Read more
