Description
What kind of wine it is
Stefano Antonucci Passerina by Santa Barbara is an organic white wine with a brilliant straw yellow colour and greenish highlights. On the nose, it opens with inviting and fragrant fruity notes. The palate reveals a pleasant freshness and a distinct savouriness, harmoniously balancing structure and lively acidity towards an elegant, mineral finish. Served chilled, it is at its best when paired with delicate seafood dishes, lean fish, and selections of tasty cheeses.
Where it comes from
This oenological expression originates in the heart of the Marche region, in the area of Barbara. The Passerina vines grow at two hundred metres above sea level with an optimal north-west exposure, a condition that encourages slow and even ripening. The terroir is characterised by medium-textured clay soils, which are essential for imparting the wine's typical structural character. Trained using the spurred cordon method, the grapes reflect the meticulous agronomic management of Santa Barbara.
How it is produced
The winemaking process is designed to enhance the authenticity of the original fruit. Vinification in stainless steel preserves the aromatic purity and vibrant energy of the Passerina, with no ageing in wood. A key technical choice is the complete absence of invasive interventions, operating with zero filtration. This approach aims to preserve the structural integrity and aromatic essence of the must, resulting in a dynamic, fragrant wine with profound expressive precision.
History and Curiosities
This organic Marche IGT from Santa Barbara celebrates the purest essence of the Ancona region. The 2024 vintage enhances the native Passerina grape, fully showcasing its fruity fragrance. Created under the guidance of oenologist Pierluigi Lorenzetti on clay soils, the wine matures in steel with zero filtration, an identity-driven choice aimed at preserving its authenticity. On the palate, it expresses a perfect balance between structure and lively acidity, enriched by a surprising mineral savouriness that pays homage to the region's historic winemaking tradition.
