Description

What kind of wine it is

Tramari is a still rosé wine that embodies the essence of Salento, obtained from the white vinification of Primitivo grapes. To the eye, it presents an elegant pale pink colour, which anticipates a well-defined aromatic profile. The bouquet releases intense scents of Mediterranean scrub, enhanced by delicate notes of cherry and raspberry. On the palate, it expresses freshness and a medium body, with a refined sip characterised by floral hints and a savoury and saline finish that recalls the proximity of the sea.

Where it comes from

The grapes grow in the heart of Salento, a land kissed by the sun and refreshed by winds blowing between the Ionian and Adriatic seas. The vineyards, situated at around one hundred metres above sea level, are trained on espalier systems on medium-textured clay soils. The shallow structure of the soil and the presence of stones favour the aromatic concentration of the fruit. Production is overseen by San Marzano, a company born from the union of nineteen winegrowers with the aim of enhancing local grape varieties. This combination of microclimate and soil gives the wine a Mediterranean character, highlighting the purity of the red fruit.

How it is produced

The Primitivo harvest takes place in the first week of September. In the winery, the processing method involves a brief skin maceration, followed by partial racking of the must and subsequent white fermentation. The entire production process, including ageing, takes place in stainless steel containers to preserve the aromatic liveliness. Ideal to serve between 10 and 14 °C, this rosé pairs excellently with Italian-style starters and fresh cheeses, and is also perfect with seafood dishes such as shellfish, baked fish and fish soups.

History and Curiosities

Born in Apulia from the historic Cantine San Marzano, founded in 1962 by nineteen winemakers, this rosé is a true ode to Mediterranean elegance. Renowned for its perfect balance between ancient traditions and modern winemaking techniques, the wine also stands out for the exclusive TramArt project, which transforms its labels into refined works of art in limited editions. An ambassador of Salento around the world, it boasts international accolades such as gold at the Asia Wine Trophy and three stars from Vinibuoni d’Italia.

In 1962 19 vine growers from San Marzano, whose families had farmed the land for generations, combined their efforts to establish "Cantine San Marzano".

Through the decades this coooperative has grown significantly, attracting over 1,200 vine growers, using modern and technologically advanced plants and producing elegant wines without forgetting the obligation to the very old Apulian wine tradition.

Nowadays the fusion of time honoured tradition, passion and sensibility with contemporary techniques enables us to produce wines with distinctive varietal and regional characters, marvellously reflecting individual attention, seasonal variation and local terroir.
