Description
What kind of wine is it
Saint Clair Sauvignon Blanc Pioneer Block 6 is a still white wine from New Zealand that embodies all the vibrant energy of Marlborough. Made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, it displays a bright straw yellow colour with greenish highlights. The bouquet is a mosaic of intense aromas ranging from passion fruit to grapefruit and guava, complemented by hints of lime blossom, thyme and a touch of blackcurrant. On the palate, it reveals a medium to full body and a pronounced citrus freshness, with a juicy progression and a long, persistent tropical finish.
Where does it come from
This white originates from a single vineyard located on O’Dwyers Road, in the heart of the Lower Rapaura sub-region of Marlborough. The area is characterised by an ideal climate, with temperature variations that help fix the aromatic intensity in the grapes. The vines grow on deep, alluvial loam soils that are well-drained, distinctly different from the stonier soils of Upper Rapaura. This specific interaction between soil and climate gives the wine remarkable structure, enhancing the herbaceous notes and vibrant freshness that distinguish it.
How is it produced
The Saint Clair winery employs immediate pressing, limiting skin contact to preserve the purity of the variety. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures, using selected yeasts to enhance the grape’s exuberant aromatics. The precise balance between residual sugars and acidity results in a dry and extremely precise palate. The production process follows strict sustainability criteria, ensuring a product that respects the environment and is also suitable for a vegan diet.

The Sinclair family initially settled the property on which this vineyard is located. The pioneer James Sinclair built one of the first houses in Blenheim and was closely associated with the town's early development.
Over time, the property's name reverted to the original Saint Clair.
