Description
What kind of wine it is
Ruggeri Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze Brut is a sparkling wine with a precise and defined identity. The result of a blend of Glera and other local white grape varieties, it expresses a fresh and harmonious style. In the glass, a fine and persistent perlage introduces clear aromas of yellow apple, peach, pear and white flowers, with delicate hints of honey and almond. On the palate, the soft texture is matched by gentle acidity, fading into a long finish with distinct mineral and citrus notes. A wine also suitable for vegan diets, characterised by remarkable palate cleanliness.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Cartizze, a small and prestigious hilly area located between Santo Stefano and San Pietro di Barbozza, in the historic heart of Valdobbiadene. The vines grow on steep slopes between 100 and 500 metres above sea level, immersed in a microclimate that favours perfect ripening of the grapes. The presence of volcanic soils plays a decisive role, imparting a pronounced savoury tension to the sip. These territorial characteristics ensure extreme aromatic finesse and define the authentic profile of this Venetian excellence.
How it is produced
Hand-harvested in small crates, the grapes undergo white vinification at a controlled temperature to preserve their original fragrance. The prise de mousse follows the Charmat Method, through slow refermentation in a pressurised tank. A carefully judged ageing on the lees adds further depth and visual brilliance. Ruggeri's meticulous work results in a delicate mousse, combining technical precision and balance to deliver an enveloping and persistent sparkle in the glass.
History and Curiosities
This prestigious sparkling wine by Ruggeri originates from the steep vineyards of Cartizze, located between Santo Stefano and San Pietro di Barbozza. The 2024 vintage embodies the vocation of a historic family-run company which, every September, selects and hand-harvests the finest grapes. The slow refermentation using the Charmat method, overseen by oenologist Fabio Roversi, creates a refined and elegant sparkle. This excellence has earned the renowned Three Glasses from Gambero Rosso, confirming its quality.

Ruggeri’s roots stretch far back to the nineteenth century, to Eliseo Bisol, who, along with his son Luigi was one of the first winemakers in Valdobbiadene. The business’s significant growth began in 1950 when Giustino Bisol founded the current winery with his cousin, and it was his surname, Ruggeri, that was chosen as the company name. The unswerving commitment to excellence continued with the work of Giustino’s son, Paolo, and granddaughter Isabella.
Since 2017, Ruggeri has been part of the Rotkäppchen-Mumm Group, a highly fruitful partnership which has paired our shared visions, trust in common values and a mutual commitment to ever higher quality standards. Read more
