Description
What kind of wine it is
Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Riserva Ducale Oro by Ruffino is a Tuscan red wine with a full and structured profile. Made from a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Colorino, it displays a ruby colour enriched with elegant garnet highlights. The bouquet weaves together hints of cherry and violet with notes of coffee and black pepper. On the palate, it reveals velvety tannins and a well-integrated fresh acidity. The long, savoury finish, with pleasant spicy undertones, pairs perfectly with mature cheeses and dishes from authentic Tuscan cuisine.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown on the estates of Gretole and Santedame, in the heart of Castellina in Chianti. The vineyards, situated between 300 and 450 metres above sea level, take root in deep soils characterised by excellent drainage. The richness of galestro and limestone imparts a strong territorial identity to the wine, promoting aromatic balance and allowing the vines to elegantly express their natural tannic precision.
How it is produced
Vinification begins with fermentation and maceration in steel vats at controlled temperature for about twenty days. Maturation follows distinct paths: the Sangiovese rests in Slavonian oak barrels, while the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon mature in barriques and tonneaux. Afterwards, the blend rests in cement tanks before completing the process with at least three months of bottle ageing, a crucial step to stabilise the sensory profile and ensure the wine's longevity.

Ruffino grows grapes in over 600 hectares of vineyards across eight estates: six in Tuscany – Poggio Casciano, Montemasso, Santedame, Gretole, La Solatia and Greppone Mazzi – two in Veneto: Cà del Duca and La Duchessa.
Ruffino was established in Pontassieve in 1877, near Florence. The main headquarters is still located on the same premises, which have been extended, modernized and equipped with innovative technology over the years, without ever losing sight of the company’s history and attachment to the local area.
The value produced by the Ruffino Group in 2019 exceeded 130 million euro.
The export revenue is significant: Ruffino is distributed worldwide due to a structured and well-developed commercial network.
