Description
What kind of wine it is
Rosso di Marte by Ruffino captures the essence of Bolgheri through a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Deep ruby in colour, it releases aromas of wild berries, tobacco and sweet spices, enriched by clear balsamic notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-structured, supported by excellent acidity and a fine, silky tannic texture that leads the sip towards a persistent finish, ideal for pairing with game dishes or mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This wine is produced in Tuscany along the coast of the Maremma, in the Bolgheri area, where the vineyards benefit from the Mediterranean climate. The vines grow on gentle hills at around two hundred metres above sea level, rooted in clay-sandy soils rich in pebbles. This combination of soil and climate encourages even ripening of the grapes. The characteristics of these plots give the wine a perfect structural balance, skilfully balancing the expressiveness of the fruit with a pleasant acidic freshness.
How it is produced
Vinification begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes and careful selection of the bunches. The varieties ferment separately to best manage the extraction of structural components. The wine then matures for six months in selected oak barrels, integrating the tannic component and rounding out the texture on the palate. A final three-month refinement in bottle completes the process. The entire technical approach makes this red fully suitable for a vegan diet.
