Description
What kind of wine it is
The Alsace Kappelweg de Rorschwihr Riesling by Rolly Gassmann is a still white wine with a semi-aromatic profile, a pure expression of Riesling. With a deep straw yellow colour, it reveals fruity aromas, hints of bread crust and mineral notes on the nose. On the palate, it is taut, clean and distinctly savoury. Its perfect balance of flavour clearly defines its character and strong sense of place.
Where it comes from
This white wine originates from the Alsace region, from vineyards spread between the areas of Rorschwihr and Bergheim. The Rolly Gassmann family has been working here since 1611, now cultivating fifty hectares. The complex nature of the soils, composed of clay, sand, limestone and granite, gives the grapes a strong character. This geological richness is essential for producing powerful and rigorous wines, where a vibrant acidity is masterfully integrated with a balanced sweetness. The deep connection between the roots and the land results in a sip with a clear aromatic definition.
How it is produced
The processing of the grapes aims to preserve their varietal purity, ensuring the wine has excellent ageing potential, with a recommended evolution of five to ten years. To fully appreciate its structure, it is advisable to decant for one hour and serve at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. At the table, it pairs ideally with delicate white fish dishes and selections of mature cheeses. The high quality standards of this label are confirmed by significant praise from international critics, including excellent reviews from Robert Parker and Vinous.
