Description
What kind of wine it is
The Rocche Costamagna Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata is a red wine from Piedmont made from Nebbiolo grapes, a true expression of Barolo. To the eye, it displays a ruby red colour with garnet highlights, introducing a highly complex aromatic profile. On the nose, notes of plum, violet and liquorice stand out, while the palate is elegant and velvety, accompanied by persistent fruity hints of cherry and raspberry that lend balance to its structure.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in La Morra, in the Piedmontese Langhe, at the Rocche Costamagna winery, active since 1841. The Nebbiolo matures on calcareous-clay soil, ideal for imparting remarkable finesse to the grapes. The care of the vines closely follows the natural viticultural cycle, while ageing takes place in ancient Napoleonic-era cellars, expertly restored to accompany the wine’s evolution in a protected and evocative environment.
How it is produced
Production involves a maceration on the skins lasting about two weeks, aimed at optimal extraction of colour and aromas. Afterwards, the wine rests for twenty-four months in large Slavonian oak barrels, enhancing its aromatic complexity. The process concludes with a year of bottle ageing overseen by oenologist Alessandro Locatelli, thus ensuring the achievement of perfect and harmonious expressive maturity.
