Description

What kind of wine it is

Riondo Corvina Veronese is a dry red wine with a velvety, full-bodied structure. Made from Corvina grapes, it displays a deep ruby red colour and a balanced acidity that gives a pleasant freshness on the palate. On the nose and palate, it reveals intense aromas of black cherry, ripe blackberry and wild strawberry, enriched by hints of vanilla, coriander and liquorice. The sip finishes harmoniously, offering an elegant and fruity finish. Decanting for about an hour allows the wine to fully express its aromatic richness.

Where it comes from

This red is produced in Monteforte d’Alpone, in the heart of the Verona region. This area gives the grapes a precise territorial character, typical of the Veronese. Riondo enhances the area by creating a classic Venetian red true to the local soils. The favourable climate ensures the ideal ripening of the bunches, allowing the development of an intense fruity profile and a solid structure, perfect for guaranteeing excellent ageing over the years.

How it is produced

The grapes are hand-picked between the end of September and the beginning of October, with careful selection of the bunches. After destemming, fermentation takes place in steel using the Ganimede method, a system that involves continuous mixing of the skins with the must to extract colour and noble tannins. Ageing lasts twelve months, spent between steel tanks and wooden barrels, which lend softness to the wine’s texture. Served between 16 and 18 degrees, it pairs perfectly with red meats and game, mature cheeses and flavourful first courses.

History and Curiosities

Originating from Monteforte d’Alpone, Riondo Corvina Veronese IGT 2021 embodies authentic Venetian tradition. It is crafted using the innovative Ganimede method, which allows for the extraction of an intense colour and soft tannins thanks to the continuous mixing of the skins. The skilful 12-month ageing, spent between steel and wooden barrels, gives this wine a velvety and full-bodied structure. It releases enveloping notes of black cherry, ripe blackberry and sweet vanilla nuances, making it the ideal choice to elegantly enhance flavourful red meats and mature cheeses.
