Description

What kind of wine it is

R&L Legras Grand Cru Blanc de Blanc Brut Champagne is a refined Traditional Method sparkling wine that expresses the purity of Chardonnay. In appearance, the Champagne displays a lemon yellow colour and a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose, clear aromas of grapefruit and lemon emerge, while on the palate the dynamic entry fades into a soft finish with hints of yellow fruit. Rated 93/100 by James Suckling, this Brut is excellent with starters, shellfish and delicate cheeses, served between 6 and 8°C.

Where it comes from

This Blanc de Blancs originates from the vineyards of Chouilly, located in the renowned Côte des Blancs, in the heart of Champagne. The area's typical chalky soil gives the wine a distinct structure, enhancing the original character of the grapes. The R&L Legras estate meticulously manages every aspect of viticulture with the utmost technical precision. The geological features of this Grand Cru territory guarantee excellent longevity, allowing for an evolution of 5-10 years. Thanks to its stylistic precision, the Champagne from this family-run estate is regularly selected by the finest Michelin-starred restaurants.

How it is produced

R&L Legras Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blanc Brut is vinified on the estate following the Traditional Method faithfully. The process begins by using only Chardonnay to obtain a clear and defined base. The prise de mousse takes place through a slow second fermentation, an essential step in creating an elegant and persistent mousse. The entire ageing process is carefully managed to preserve the natural citrus notes and lively freshness, ensuring a perfectly smooth taste on the finish.

History and Curiosities

Established as a true benchmark in Michelin-starred restaurants, it boasts an extraordinary longevity of 5-10 years, further confirmed by the excellent score of 93/100 awarded by James Suckling. A glass of absolute prestige, capable of evolving masterfully over time.

From this winery
  • Start up year: 1808
Our family story began in the 16th century but took a new start in 1808 with Honoré Legras who has developed one of the most beautiful Domains in the Côte des Blancs.

This Champagne region is so named because over there Chardonnay – one of the finest of all white grape varieties – has always reigned in absolute supremacy.

6 generations later…the family adventure continues and the House R&L elaborates excellent-value Champagnes.

Over the years the R&L vineyards have expanded. Our precious wines have been
vinified at the Estate while combining tradition and modernity.

The Cuvees R&L Legras have always required rigor, precision and a gourmet passion.

We are extremely proud to see our wines on the most beautiful gastronomic and Michelin starred restaurants.
