Description
What type of wine it is
Quintodecimo's Taurasi Vigna Grande Cerzito Riserva is a still red wine with a Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin (DOCG) that expresses the profound character of Aglianico grown in Campania. Its profile is distinguished by a full-bodied style, in which silky tannins balance a remarkable concentration with a pleasant freshness. Ageing in new oak barrels defines a complex and persistent aromatic profile, ideal for pairing with red meats and matured cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from Mirabella Eclano, in the province of Avellino, from a single south-facing vineyard that ensures consistent and optimal ripening. The vines grow at over four hundred and fifty metres above sea level on deep volcanic soil, mainly composed of ash and pumice. This well-drained, lime-free land guarantees high oxygen availability to the roots, giving the wine an unmistakable mineral freshness that supports its rigorous and harmonious structure.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a rigorous manual selection of the bunches, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation for about three weeks. This prolonged contact with the skins maximises the extraction of polyphenols, preparing the wine for long ageing in oak barrels. Resting in wood enriches the structure and releases notes of cherry and plum, complemented by fresh hints of eucalyptus and incense, which give this red an olfactory charm of great intensity.
History and curious facts
Founded in 2001 by Luigi Moio in Mirabella Eclano, the Quintodecimo winery expresses Campanian excellence through the Vigna Grande Cerzito. This exclusive one-hectare vineyard, characterised by deep volcanic soils and optimal southern exposure, produces approximately two thousand fine bottles every year. The rigorous manual harvest in October and the prolonged ageing in new barriques give life to a superb Taurasi DOCG Riserva, sought after for its immense evolutionary potential which, over time, reveals increasingly fine and elegant nuances.
