Description

What kind of wine it is

Rosso Ca del Merlo is a still wine crafted by Giuseppe Quintarelli, the result of a refined blend that combines Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Corvina, Corvinone, Croatina, Nebbiolo, Rondinella and Sangiovese. An expression of the Veneto region, it appears in the glass with an intense ruby red hue. On the nose, it reveals clear aromas of ripe red fruit, while on the palate it offers a vibrant and decisive sip, perfect for accompanying beef, veal, lamb or mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Valpolicella, specifically on the hills of Negrar. Giuseppe Quintarelli's vineyards are situated at around three hundred and fifty metres above sea level, in a landscape where the rows of vines alternate harmoniously with olive groves and cherry trees. This distinctive hillside location, combined with meticulous vineyard management, ensures a deep connection with the Veneto region, where the winery has operated with dedication since the early twentieth century.

How it is produced

The vinification process involves a slow ageing of eight years in large wooden barrels, followed by further maturation in the bottle. This prolonged maturation defines the wine's dense structure, ensuring ideal development and remarkable longevity, estimated between ten and fifteen years. To fully appreciate its aromatic bouquet, it is recommended to decant for one hour and serve at a temperature between eighteen and twenty degrees, to enhance its extreme complexity.

The company is located in the foothills of Negrar approximately 350 meters above sea level. The landscape is typical of Valpolicella with its vineyards, olive groves and cherry trees, an air almost of another era, a rurality that was in danger of being lost, but thanks to people like 'El Bepi' it has been preserved. His grandson Francesco said that the wines are still made the way his grandfather made them by ageing and maturing them slowly for eight years in large wooden barrels and in bottles. Read more
