Description
What kind of wine it is
The Produttori del Barbaresco Langhe Nebbiolo is a still red wine that faithfully reflects the character of Nebbiolo within the renowned Langhe region. It appears an intense ruby red in the glass and reveals a bouquet where notes of strawberries and ripe cherries intertwine with elegant hints of pepper, tobacco and tea leaves. On the palate, it offers a full body, supported by a significant tannic structure and remarkable persistence. This solid balance makes it the ideal pairing for red meats, game and elaborate first courses, expressing itself best if decanted for about an hour.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Piedmontese towns of Barbaresco, Neive and Treiso, where south, west and east-facing slopes favour optimal fruit ripening. The clay-limestone soils, rich in silt, are crucial in defining the pronounced tannic perception and structure of the wine. Production is entrusted to Produttori del Barbaresco, a historic cooperative that brings together over fifty families to cultivate and vinify their harvests, enhancing the authentic identity of the Piedmontese territory.
How it is produced
Vinification involves fermentation in stainless steel for twenty days in contact with the skins. Daily pump-overs ensure the extraction of colour and tannins, followed by complete malolactic fermentation to harmonise the palate. The maturation process concludes with five months of ageing in large oak casks. This stage guides the aromatic evolution towards spicy nuances, giving the wine excellent balance and a profound continuity between bouquet and palate.
History and Curiosities
Born in the Langhe, this pure Nebbiolo embodies the spirit of the Produttori del Barbaresco, the historic cooperative founded in 1958. The grapes come from the 120 hectares cultivated by over fifty families across the municipalities of Neive, Treiso and Barbaresco. Under the guidance of oenologists Fabio Accomasso and Gianni Testa, a wine with a full body is created. The 2024 vintage continues this tradition, refining its significant tannic structure in large oak barrels to offer a powerful, balanced taste deeply rooted in the Piedmontese territory.
