Description

What kind of wine it is

Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne enhances Chardonnay through the Traditional Method. With a golden yellow colour, it reveals a fine perlage with aromas of white flowers, quince and citrus fruits, combined with notes of brioche and fresh butter. On the palate it is dry and creamy, with a long finish featuring hints of almond and acacia honey. It is perfect for accompanying starters, cheeses and lean fish.

Where it comes from

It comes from the finest Grands Crus of Champagne, in the renowned Côte des Blancs. Pol Roger selects grapes from the villages of Avize, Cramant, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger for maximum aromatic finesse. A historic supplier to the British royal household based in Épernay, the winery enhances this terroir with care, ensuring wines that express the mineral freshness and elegance of the French vineyards.

How it is produced

The process uses the first pressing in steel, with no passage through barrels, preserving the primary aromas and freshness of the fruit. The prise de mousse according to the Traditional Method takes place with manual riddling in the cellars' galleries. The prolonged ageing on the lees, from six to nine years, gives structure and an enveloping texture, resulting in a clean and remarkably persistent flavour profile.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1849, the prestigious Pol Roger house combines excellence and artisanal tradition in this exclusive Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2016. A historic supplier to the British monarchy, the Épernay cellar selects grapes from the finest Grands Crus, allowing the wine to mature for six to nine years in its deep underground galleries. The result of a limited production and meticulous manual riddling, this sublime vintage expression offers timeless elegance. Awarded by James Suckling and Wine Spectator, it embodies pure perfection.

Distinction and elegance. Pol Roger is the "gentlemen's" champagne, as Jean paul Kauffman wrote in "Voyage en Champagne". It is no surprise therefore, that it became a favourite of Winston Chrchill and even the British Royal Family over the years. This refinement reflects a whole lifestyle.

It is also a source of infinite pleasure. Pol roger Champagne has a soul, created by the union of a family's spirit and the character of a vineyard. The winery and the cellars are located on the celebrated and noble avenue de Champane in Espernay, the very place where the heart of champagne beats. The purity and the nobility of the Pol roger Champagne is also the fruit of the know-how, passed down from generation to generation.

From the harvest in the region's best vineyards, to the painstaking work in the cellar, each gesture has its own importance.
