Description
What kind of wine it is
Pojer e Sandri Palai Müller-Thurgau is a still, semi-aromatic white wine that precisely expresses the character of the Müller-Thurgau grape at the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. Set within the context of the Vineyards of the Dolomites, it stands out for its fresh and taut profile, accompanied by a pleasant savoury streak. On the nose, it offers a broad and clear bouquet, characterised by notes of lemon verbena and peach, enriched with citrus nuances and delicate mineral tones. On the palate, it is crisp and clean, offering a measured aromatic component that blends with a refined floral tension in a clean, herbaceous finish.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Palai area, located above the village of Faedo, a mountainous region renowned for its unique microclimatic characteristics. The vineyards stretch at an altitude between 550 and 750 metres above sea level, benefiting from a south-eastern exposure and the constant breeze from Lake Garda. The soils have variable depth and are composed of a silty-calcareous matrix resting on a substrate of marly conglomerate, sandstone, siltstone and dolomite. This specific pedoclimatic context makes Faedo one of the most suitable areas for the cultivation of Müller-Thurgau, ensuring the wines have a marked aromatic precision.
How it is produced
The winemaking process follows a meticulous approach, centred on the use of the hyper-reduction technique. This exclusive method developed by Pojer e Sandri involves pressing and vinification in total absence of oxygen thanks to the use of recovered nitrogen, preserving the most volatile and delicate aromatic compounds of the grape. The result in the glass is a wine with a brilliant straw yellow colour, enhanced by bright greenish reflections. The artisanal attention at every stage of production is reflected in the high quality of the product, as evidenced by international accolades such as 91 points from Vinous.
History and Curiosities
Active since 1975, the Pojer e Sandri winery stands out as a pioneering excellence in the production of Trentino natural wines. The Palai vineyard, located above Faedo, benefits from an ideal microclimate, confirming itself as one of Italy's premier terroirs for Müller-Thurgau. To preserve the aromatic integrity of the grapes, the company employs the innovative hyper-reduction without oxygen, a cutting-edge pressing technique designed to drastically limit the use of sulphites. This pursuit has been rewarded with 91 points from Vinous.

Faedo 1998: We are already starting to show our thirst for innovation: we are among the first at a national level to market Chardonnay, which until then was practically unknown.
Faedo 2002: We patent the reduction and press vinification with nitrogen recovery, which drastically reduces the use of sulphites. We then begin to wash the grapes through the grape jacuzzi.
The arrival of Marianna, Matteo, Fiamma, Elisa and Federico has brought further life and energy to this dream in which passion and innovation are the keystone.
Faedo 2013: The Zero Infinito project is born: Zero chemical treatments in the countryside, Zero sulphur dioxide, Zero commercial yeasts, Zero clarifying agents, Zero filtrations, Zero antioxidants. Read more
