Description
What kind of wine is it
Brunello di Montalcino Cielo d’Ulisse from Podere Le Ripi is an organic and sustainable Tuscan red wine with a garnet hue, made from Sangiovese grapes. On the nose, it releases vibrant notes of small red fruits and hints of undergrowth, enriched by lengthy ageing in wood. On the palate, it reveals well-balanced acidity and fine tannins of great elegance. It is recommended to let it breathe for about an hour before serving, making it ideal to accompany grilled meats, pork dishes, game, and mature cheeses.
Where does it come from
It originates in the Montalcino area, at the heart of the prestigious Brunello di Montalcino region. The vineyards are rooted in schist and limestone soils, a composition that gives the wine a precise texture and deep structural harmony. This territorial imprint ensures a long-lived and distinctive profile. The agronomic management focuses on a limited yield, with a high density of plants per hectare to maximise the organoleptic qualities of the fruit.
How is it produced
Production begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes. Fermentation involves a twenty-day maceration in stainless steel vats, a crucial phase for extracting colour while preserving aromatic integrity. Subsequently, the wine matures for thirty-six months in oak barrels, acquiring complexity and smoothness. A further twelve months of bottle ageing stabilises the taste balance before release to the market.

This dream is also an aesthetic one: of creating something extremely beautiful. When I was 18 years old it was supposed to be an island, and Podere le Ripi is not an island, but it is some sort of a peninsula that dives into the noisy Orcia river.
With time, this something beautiful became also healthy and sustainable, and subsequently we realized that it could have been applied somewhere else, therefore becoming replicable and socially positive in its approach. Read more
