Description
What kind of wine it is
Planeta Rosé is an organic still wine originating from Sicily. The result of a blend of Nero d’Avola and Syrah, it appears in the glass with a pale pink colour. On the nose, it offers a floral bouquet of hibiscus and dog rose, combined with hints of wild strawberries, blackberries and melon. On the palate, it expresses a dry character of medium intensity, supported by a lively acidity that ensures an easy drinkability. The tasting recalls notes of meringue and the delicacy of tabacchiera peach flesh, offering a clean and refreshing finish.
Where it comes from
The grapes for Planeta Rosé grow in Menfi, in south-western Sicily, just a few kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea. The Nero d’Avola and Syrah plots, located at low altitude, benefit from the marine influence that promotes the aromatic balance of the bunches. The soils are characterised by medium depth and a moderately calcareous composition, enriched with mixed yellow and grey clays. This terroir, managed according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, encourages a fresh and linear expression of the fruit.
How it is produced
The harvest takes place between the end of August and the beginning of September. The process follows a white vinification, starting with crushing and destemming followed by gentle pressing. A skin maceration of just one or two hours is enough to extract the characteristic delicate colour. The clarified must then ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine completes its journey with maturation in steel without any wood ageing, preserving its original freshness and offering a dry and direct profile.
History and Curiosities
Planeta Rosé originates from a historic family estate in Sambuca di Sicilia, which has been active since the 17th century. The Nero d’Avola and Syrah grapes, grown in Menfi just a short distance from the sea, are cultivated with full respect for biodiversity. This environmentally conscious approach gives rise to an excellent organic rosé wine. White vinification, combined with a brief maceration and ageing in steel, preserves the original freshness and elegance of this blend, capturing the authentic soul of the Sicilian land.
