Description
What type of wine it is
Nocera by Planeta is an organic red wine with the Sicilia DOC (Controlled Designation of Origin), made from the Nocera grape variety. The choice to conduct fermentation and ageing in stainless steel tanks allows the freshness and integrity of the fruit to be preserved, excluding the use of barrels. In the glass, it presents with a deep ruby red hue, a prelude to a Mediterranean aromatic profile where notes of wild herbs, myrtle, summer fruits and white pepper emerge. On the palate, it is persuasive and harmonious, characterised by a young and elegant structure, influenced by the marine sapidity typical of the territory.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in the La Baronia vineyard at Capo Milazzo, in a splendid panoramic position facing the Aeolian Islands. The rows grow at an altitude of approximately 30 metres among ancient olive trees, benefiting from the constant sea breeze that enhances the aromatic complexity of the clusters. The vines sink their roots into alluvial soils, deep and loose, enriched with granite stones and a layer of volcanic ash from Etna. The entire production follows sustainable agriculture criteria under the SOStain® protocol, ensuring maximum respect for the environment.
How it is produced
Production involves a rigorous manual harvest and a subsequent selection of the clusters. After de-stemming and crushing, the must ferments in steel, undergoing maceration on the skins for about ten days at a controlled temperature. During this period, frequent pumping over and punching down ensure the correct extraction of colour and aromatic components. At the end of malolactic fermentation, the wine undergoes ageing in steel, a technical choice aimed at preserving the purity and vibrancy of the original fruit.
