Description
What kind of wine it is
La Segreta Bianco by Planeta is an organic white wine that expresses the soul of the region through a harmonious blend of grape varieties. The combination of Grecanico Dorato, Chardonnay, Fiano and Viognier gives it a dry and fragrant profile. On the nose, clear notes of white peach, apricot and Sicilian citrus fruits emerge, enriched by hints of white melon, tropical fruit and delicate touches of hay. On the palate, it stands out for its slender and balanced structure, supported by lively acidity and a saline streak that leads to a pleasantly persistent finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from estate-owned vineyards located in Sicily, stretching from Menfi to Etna and Capo Milazzo. The grapes come mainly from the estates of Dispensa, Gurra and Ulmo, cultivated at altitudes between 45 and 210 metres above sea level. The variety of microclimates is reflected in the organically managed soils, which range from calcareous and clay soils to medium-textured soils rich in pebbles. These territorial characteristics give the wine its natural savoury imprint and the gustatory tension that distinguishes it.
How it is produced
The grapes are carefully harvested and immediately chilled to preserve freshness and aromatic integrity. After destemming and a gentle pressing, the must is naturally clarified by static decantation at low temperatures. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for a period of ten to twelve days. The wine is then aged on the fine lees with weekly stirring, a technique that enriches its palate volume and stabilises the fruity aromas before the final blending.
History and Curiosities
Born from the dedication of the Planeta family, winemakers for seventeen generations, La Segreta Bianco takes its name from the unspoilt woodland that surrounds the historic Ulmo vineyards. This excellent organic Sicilia DOC expresses a deep connection with the land, embracing the estates that stretch from Menfi to Etna. The elegant label celebrates the island's nature, inspired by an ancient illustrated herbarium from the nineteenth century by Giuseppe Riggio. A tribute that enhances the Sicilian roots, combining botanical art with sustainable viticulture.
