Description

What kind of wine it is

Planeta Etna Bianco Contrada Taccione is an organic still wine that expresses the essence of Etna through Carricante grapes. It stands out for its dry and elegant profile, characterised by aromas of yellow peach, broom flowers, aromatic herbs and notes of wet stone. On the palate, it reveals a distinct savouriness, harmonised by a pleasant freshness and intense fruity hints. The finish is persistent, with nuances of rosemary and saline mineral tones, perfect for pairing with raw seafood or stretched-curd cheeses.

Where it comes from

This white originates in Montelaguardia, near Castiglione di Sicilia. The vineyards grow at high altitude, surrounded by woods and lava flows, on deep volcanic soils made up of black sands rich in minerals. This unique geology, combined with strong temperature variations, allows for a slow and steady ripening of the grapes. These pedoclimatic conditions enhance the mineral expression of the grape variety, while preserving its aromatic freshness and vibrant acidic tension.

How it is produced

Production follows the principles of organic farming. The grapes, harvested by hand, are chilled and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in both steel tanks and oak barrels, preserving the integrity of the organoleptic profile. The wine then matures on fine lees through regular bâtonnage, enriching its structure. The final ageing gives a rounded sip with excellent taste balance, capable of enhancing the natural vitality of the fruit.

History and Curiosities

Born in Montelaguardia under the guidance of oenologist Alessio Planeta, this organic white wine from Etna has been an expression of authentic and sustainable viticulture since 2012. Its elegant complexity derives from skilful ageing divided between steel and fine Allier oak barrels, enhanced by slow stirring on the fine lees. The absolute excellence of this volcanic label is confirmed by prestigious international awards and celebrated with top ratings from renowned critics such as Wine Enthusiast, Decanter and Robert Parker.
