Description
What kind of wine it is
Planeta Chardonnay is an organic white wine that faithfully reflects the Sicilian terroir. The Chardonnay offers a bouquet characterised by notes of yellow peach, acacia honey, white flowers and delicate hints of cereal. On the palate, it stands out for its soft and creamy texture, balanced by a clear mineral vein. The sip evolves elegantly towards a persistent finish with light toasted nuances, ideal for accompanying elaborate seafood dishes and soft cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Ulmo and Maroccoli vineyards in Sambuca di Sicilia, in the heart of the Menfi area. The rows, situated between 250 and 415 metres above sea level, take root in heterogeneous soils that enrich the fruit. The Ulmo vineyard is distinguished by a medium-textured soil, pebbly and calcareous, while Maroccoli features a clayey and silty substrate rich in stones. This geological complexity gives the wine a vibrant savoury freshness and a deep, defined drinkability.
How it is produced
After destemming and gentle pressing, the must undergoes static cold settling. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels at a controlled temperature. Maturation continues in wood for about twelve months, using barrels of different ages. A regular bâtonnage, carried out every ten days, increases the volume and roundness of the sip. This technique enriches the structure, outlining an enveloping flavour profile that combines power with a distinct mineral imprint.
