Description

What kind of wine is it

Perlugo by Pievalta is a refined organic sparkling wine made from Verdicchio grapes. Produced in the Marche region, it stands out for its dry and linear profile, enhanced by the choice of zero dosage. Crafted using the Traditional Method, it offers a fresh sip, with a light body, marked by pronounced savouriness and remarkable persistence. The aromatic bouquet opens with floral and fruity notes, enriched by hints of bread crust, aromatic herbs, almond husk and helichrysum.

Where does it come from

This sparkling wine is produced in Maiolati Spontini, in the Monte Schiavo area, at the heart of the Castelli di Jesi region. The vineyards are located at around two hundred metres above sea level on calcareous clay soils, perfect for enhancing the mineral precision of the grape variety. The vineyard management follows the principles of organic and sustainable agriculture, with vines trained using the Guyot system to preserve the purity and quality of the bunches. The Pievalta winery interprets this unique Marche terroir with established expertise in sparkling wine production.

How is it produced

The Verdicchio grapes undergo gentle pressing, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve the wine's tension and freshness. After maturing for six months, the base wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle following the Traditional Method, without the addition of any dosage syrup. Ageing on the lees for twenty-four months defines the wine's organoleptic character, giving it a fine and persistent perlage and a deep, satisfying sip.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 2002 in the Marche region from the experience of Barone Pizzini, Pievalta enhances the territory of the Castelli di Jesi by showcasing pure Verdicchio in an elegant organic sparkling wine. Perlugo Dosaggio Zero pays tribute to Ugo, a passionate supporter of the project, and to the sparkling wine tradition of the parent company. Thanks to a rigorous second fermentation in the bottle and 24 months of ageing on the lees, this refined Metodo Classico expresses a lively savouriness with floral notes, widely acclaimed by the leading industry guides.
