Description

What kind of wine it is

The Champagne Pierre Moncuit Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Delos Extra Brut is made from Chardonnay grapes crafted according to the strict Traditional Method. In the glass, the Champagne displays a straw yellow colour enhanced by golden highlights, animated by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, it reveals a fruity bouquet that harmoniously blends with notes of bread crust and pastry. On the palate, the taste stands out for its mineral freshness, offering a vibrant sip and a long-lasting finish.

Where it comes from

The origin of this label is rooted in France, in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, at the heart of the renowned Côte des Blancs. The Pierre Moncuit winery operates as an independent winegrower, managing around twenty hectares of vineyards planted entirely with Chardonnay. The properties extend across prestigious classified plots, Premier Cru areas and land in Sézanne, also including an exclusive Clos. This deep territorial dedication allows for an extremely faithful interpretation of Chardonnay, resulting in a Grand Cru Champagne capable of reflecting its terroir with elegance and precision of flavour.

How it is produced

Production follows the principles of the Traditional Method, with meticulous bottle fermentation that encourages the development of fine and consistent bubbles. At the end of the process, an Extra Brut dosage is applied, kept around 3 g/l. This technical choice aims to ensure a clean organoleptic profile, designed to enhance the balance between fruity notes and delicate pastry hints. The wine thus expresses a linear structure, characterised by a dry sip and a pronounced persistence.

History and Curiosities

Born in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger from the dedication of the Pierre Moncuit family, this Champagne Grand Cru embodies the excellence of the Côte des Blancs. Since 1889, this historic independent winegrowing estate has cultivated exclusively Chardonnay, creating a prestigious Blanc de Blancs. The renowned Cuvée Delos expresses the authentic soul of the terroir: thanks to an elegant Extra Brut dosage, it releases a vibrant minerality and unparalleled persistence. An oenological masterpiece, celebrated and awarded by critics such as Vinous and Wine Spectator.

From this winery
Pierre Moncuit in Le Mesnil sur Oger, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs Grands Crus, owns a vineyard of about 20 hectares, exclusively planted in Chardonnay : 15 hectares in Grand Cru, and a little bit less than 5 hectares in Sézanne and a few ares in Premier Cru, its Clos. The House didn’t want to open up to other grape varieties, preferring to continue the family tradition and work to enhance the historical grape variety of its terroir. Synonymous with elegance, Chardonnay expresses itself beautifully. It offers many facets that Nicole and now Valerie like to work to offer wines with different profiles. Read more
