Description

What kind of wine it is

The Champagne Blanc de Blancs Hugues de Coulmet Brut by Pierre Moncuit precisely expresses the character of its terroir. Crafted using the Traditional Method, it matures in the cellar, acquiring a defined aromatic profile and a fine perlage. In the glass, it displays a straw yellow colour with golden highlights, a prelude to a bouquet reminiscent of white flowers, such as lily and jasmine, accompanied by notes of peach. On the palate, it offers a pleasant roundness, maintaining a crisp drinkability thanks to a Brut dosage that leads to a clean and persistent finish.

Where it comes from

The roots of this cuvée lie in the renowned Champagne region, with a privileged connection to Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. The vineyards of Maison Pierre Moncuit are managed with sustainable practices and cover around twenty hectares. The estate includes plots classified as Grand Cru, alongside vines in the Sézanne area. This diversity of soil and climate gives the wine a distinct identity, enhancing the structure and elegance of the Chardonnay through a high-level territorial expression.

How it is produced

Production involves cellar ageing for around three years, a crucial period for developing the finesse and elegant texture that characterise this Blanc de Blancs. Praised by international critics, this wine has excellent potential for ageing over time. Its versatility makes it ideal for accompanying an entire meal. It pairs excellently with seafood starters, shellfish and fine fish, and also enhances the flavour of cheeses thanks to its remarkable structural balance.

From this winery
Pierre Moncuit in Le Mesnil sur Oger, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs Grands Crus, owns a vineyard of about 20 hectares, exclusively planted in Chardonnay : 15 hectares in Grand Cru, and a little bit less than 5 hectares in Sézanne and a few ares in Premier Cru, its Clos. The House didn’t want to open up to other grape varieties, preferring to continue the family tradition and work to enhance the historical grape variety of its terroir. Synonymous with elegance, Chardonnay expresses itself beautifully. It offers many facets that Nicole and now Valerie like to work to offer wines with different profiles. Read more
