Description
What kind of wine it is
Pierre Legras Champagne Grand Cru Monographie Extra Dry is an elegant Blanc de Blancs made from Chardonnay grapes. In the glass, this Champagne displays a golden yellow hue with greenish highlights and a fine perlage. The aromatic profile opens with notes of brioche, nuts and candied fruit, enriched by soft buttery nuances. On the palate, it is fresh, rich and complex, supported by citrus hints and a refined toasted undertone. The use of the Traditional Method, a fundamental guarantee of quality, ensures a precise and expressive structure for a sip of great balance.
Where it comes from
This label originates from the renowned vineyards of Chouilly, a prestigious Grand Cru located in the Côte des Blancs, France. This area of the Champagne appellation offers ideal conditions for cultivating Chardonnay, giving the wine pronounced tension on the palate and clear aromatic definition. The care of the vines is entrusted to Pierre Legras, a historic house whose winemaking roots date back to 1662. Over eleven generations, the family has established a deep connection with their homeland, enhancing the expression of the landscape through rigorous agricultural practices.
How it is produced
The process follows the strict rules of the Traditional Method, with natural secondary fermentation and extended ageing on the lees in the bottle. Partial maturation in oak barrels imparts subtle toasted notes that blend harmoniously with the citrus freshness. The measured sugar dosage defines the Extra Dry profile, ensuring excellent versatility at the table. This Champagne is ideal as an aperitif and enhances dishes based on fish, shellfish and cheese. Its complexity also makes it perfect for accompanying the vibrant flavours of Asian cuisine, spicy dishes or refined desserts.

The birth of Pierre Legras marked the beginning of a great line of winemakers. Eleven generations have followed each other for nearly four hundred years: Pierre, Pierre the 2nd, Jean-Baptiste the 3rd, Honoré the 4th, Jean-Baptiste the 5th, Simon-Auguste the 6th, Théodore-André the 7th, Elie-Edmond the 8th, Lucien the 9th, Philippe the 10th, and Vincent the 11th.
After training at the Avize Wine School and graduating with a National Diploma in Oenology, Vincent, in 2002, created the Champagne name of Pierre Legras, a tribute to his distant ancestor. Assisted by his father, he developed the business over the years. The domaine grew from 5 to more than 10 hectares. He invested little by little: in a press, in vats, in vines … these many commitments a necessity to offer wines that lived up to his ambitions.
In 2011, Marcelline joined him. Together, they developed the name internationally. Today, the inimitable style of Pierre Legras wines goes beyond borders. Read more
