Description
What kind of wine it is
Pierre Andre Cote de Nuits Villages Rouge is a still red wine that clearly expresses the character of Burgundy Pinot Noir. With its intense violet colour, it reveals an aromatic profile centred on fresh red fruit, with distinct scents of cherry, redcurrant and blackcurrant, enriched by warm spicy notes of cinnamon. On the palate, it offers a pleasant softness, supported by supple tannins that provide fullness, roundness and a deep persistence. Thanks to its balanced structure, this elegant sip is ideal for pairing with red meats, lamb, duck and medium or long-aged cheeses.
Where it comes from
This Côte de Nuits-Villages originates from the vineyards of Burgundy, located to the north in the communes of Fixin and Brochon and to the south between Premeaux-Prissey, Comblanchien and Corgoloin. The vines take root in hard, very stony limestone soils, lying on gentle, even slopes that fade into valley floors of brown soils covered by silt accumulated over time. This specific geological composition gives the wine its typical fine texture. The Pierre André winery, whose history began in 1923, cultivates and interprets these plots, carefully enhancing the aromatic complexity of the terroir.
How it is produced
The vinification process takes place in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures for about three weeks. After a cold pre-fermentation maceration, punching down and pumping over operations encourage optimal extraction of colour and structure. Fermentation is followed by further maceration, and the wine's evolution continues with maturation in barrels for a period ranging from eight to sixteen months, during which malolactic fermentation is completed. The measured use of new barrels helps to integrate the aromas and smooth the flavour profile.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1923, the historic winery Pierre Andre established its prestige in Burgundy thanks to the acquisition, in 1927, of a château in Aloxe-Corton. This charming Cote de Nuits-Villages AOC from the 2023 vintage is made from Pinot Noir grapes grown on limestone and stony soils located between Fixin and Corgoloin. The constant pursuit of excellence results in a wine that embodies the profound aromatic complexity and pure elegance of this unique terroir, celebrating over a century of glorious winemaking tradition.
