Description
What type of wine it is
The Barbera d’Alba Majano by Piero Busso is an elegant Piedmontese red wine, created from the 100% pure vinification of Barbera. This interpretation fully expresses the character of the famous Barbera d’Alba appellation, offering a bright ruby red colour in the glass that fades towards garnet with evolution. The bouquet opens with an intense, vinous aroma typical of the grape variety, while on the palate it reveals a full body, delivering a fruity sip pleasantly marked by skilful ageing in wood.
Where it comes from
The vineyards that give life to this red are located among the hills of the municipality of Neive, cultivated using the Guyot training system. The vines benefit from an altitude of approximately one hundred and eighty metres above sea level and enjoy excellent south-westerly exposure. Specifically shaping the wine's identity is the clay-sandy soil composition, fundamental for giving the taste profile its typical structure and fullness. The Piero Busso winery continues to reflect the authenticity of these hills while always maintaining a deep respect for the land.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a rigorous fermentation in steel, during which maceration allows for the balanced extraction of colour and aromatic components. Subsequently, the wine is transferred to wooden barrels of various sizes, where it rests for about a year, acquiring softness and roundness. The journey concludes with a measured bottle ageing lasting about six months, an essential step to define the overall harmony and stabilise the sensory profile before tasting.
History and interesting facts
The winery was founded in Neive in 1948 by Guido, Piero’s father. The Barbera d’Alba Majano perfectly embodies the philosophy of the Piero Busso winery, which has always aimed to produce wines that speak authentically of the local area.
