Description
What kind of wine it is
Champagne Les Hauts d’Epernay Extra Brut by Philippe Lancelot is an elegant expression of the region, born from a refined blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. In the glass, it reveals a bright golden yellow colour and a very fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, it offers a layered bouquet of fruit and flowers, finely interwoven with hints of spices, yeast and delicate pastries. On the palate, it is enveloping, with a deep sip and a pleasantly dry finish. This organic Champagne pairs harmoniously with refined starters, cheeses and shellfish dishes.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Champagne region, with vineyards spread across the areas of Cramant, Chouilly, Oiry, Avize, Épernay and Aÿ. The Philippe Lancelot winery works to preserve and communicate the authenticity of the French terroir, enhancing the specific characteristics of each individual plot. Through rigorous low-intervention viticulture, the producer ensures a transparent expression of the region. Since 2012, the company has adopted biodynamic practices, working in full harmony with the natural environment to maintain the integrity of the soils and cultivate grapes of pure expression.
How it is produced
The entire production process is based on the strict Traditional Method, essential for developing tactile finesse and an elegant profile. The handling of the grapes faithfully reflects the winery’s eco-sustainable approach. The blend aims to achieve a very dry Extra Brut dosage, designed to enhance precision and depth of flavour. Through this careful and respectful management, a wine of broad structure is obtained, capable of delivering a clear, expressive sip with a notably incisive finish.
History and Curiosities
Founded in the 1970s, the Philippe Lancelot estate enhances the terroir through minimal intervention viticulture. In the plots of Cramant, Chouilly, Épernay and Aÿ, the company has adopted biodynamic practices since 2012 to preserve the authenticity of the land. This artisanal approach gives rise to cuvées that respect the identity of each individual vineyard. The Champagne Les Hauts d’Epernay Extra Brut 2017 perfectly embodies this traditional method, offering extraordinary purity, authentic charm and a distinctive character in every sip.

Traditional viticulture with the first organic trials in 2010. Biodynamic practices have been adopted in all vineyards since 2012. We pursue the least invasive viticulture techniques.
My idea is to apprehend and express the DNA of each area as best as possible. Hence, harvest after harvest, according to my desire and my imagination, I aim to develop different cuvees with their own identity, true to the vintage.
I strive to express purity, distinctiveness and why not originality. This is why I created 'parcelles et coups de coeur' (single vineyards and favorites). Each label is the illustration of my feeling of the wine. Read more
