Description

What kind of wine it is

The Champagne Grand Cru Cramant Extra Brut by Pertois-Moriset is a refined Blanc de Blancs made entirely from Chardonnay grapes. Produced according to the strict rules of the Traditional Method, it appears in the glass with a bright straw yellow colour, enhanced by a delicately creamy perlage. The bouquet opens with elegant notes of white flowers and lemon zest, accompanied by subtle hints of pastry. On the palate, it is taut and vibrant, characterised by pronounced savouriness and lively acidity that lead to a long, mineral finish.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from Cramant, a renowned village classified as Grand Cru located in the Côte des Blancs, the prime area for Chardonnay within the Champagne region. The deep connection with the land is expressed through a distinct chalky minerality, which gives the Champagne a precise structure and great freshness. The Pertois-Moriset winery manages its vineyards following the principles of organic and sustainable agriculture, aiming to preserve the integrity of the soil and the expressive purity of the grapes.

How it is produced

The quality of the grapes is enhanced through the slow prise de mousse typical of the Traditional Method. The low dosage defines its Extra Brut character, highlighting a linear, pure and uncompromising sip. Thanks to patient ageing on the lees, this cuvée develops remarkable complexity and a significant capacity for evolution over time. Served at an ideal temperature between 6 and 8 °C, it pairs perfectly with sushi and sashimi, oysters, delicate fish dishes and fine cheeses.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1951 in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, the Pertois-Moriset winery produces this exceptional Blanc de Blancs from only Chardonnay grapes, cultivated according to strict organic and sustainable principles. This prestigious Champagne Grand Cru from Cramant, vintage 2018, captivates with its extraordinary purity and elegant Extra Brut dosage. This refined single-village cuvée embodies the truest expression of its place of origin and, thanks to its vibrant mineral structure, ensures a magnificent ageing potential of 5 to 10 years.

Situated in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Champagne Pertois-Moriset, has from the beginning been a family business and independently owned. Grower-producers: each new generation has been nourished through the tradition and the knowledge of the vine and the wine of those who came before.

The House’s history began through the marriage between Yves Pertois and Janine Moriset, the son and daughter of two former winemaking families in the Côte de Blancs.

In 1951, the couple decided to create the brand Pertois-Moriset, which continued to develop as their son Dominique and his wife Florence joined the House.

Today, The House is managed by their granddaughter Cécile and her husband Vincent. The surface of the vineyard is 20.70 hectares, spread over two terroirs: the Côte de Blancs which is around 13.4 hectares, and the Coteaux Sézannais which is around 7.30 hectares.
