Description
What kind of wine is it
Pedrotti Trento Riserva Extra Brut is a refined Trento produced from Chardonnay. Crafted using the Traditional Method, it displays a golden straw-yellow hue, enhanced by a creamy and persistent mousse. The aromatic profile is deep, with notes of candied citrus blending with spicy and toasted nuances. On the palate, it stands out for its freshness and savouriness, offering a balanced sip that evolves towards hints of dried fruit, mango and apricot, with remarkable ageing potential.
Where does it come from
This sparkling wine originates in Trentino Alto Adige, amidst the enchanting mountain landscapes of Vallagarina. The grapes grow in the Le Gere vineyard, at an altitude of four hundred and eighty metres. This elevated position influences the ripening of the bunches, giving the wine its distinctive vibrant freshness. The Pedrotti winery enhances the unique features of the Alpine territory through meticulous vineyard management, creating an authentic territorial expression, awarded the Quattro Viti by the Italian Sommelier Association.
How is it produced
The production process involves a rigorous manual harvest, followed by the prise de mousse typical of the Traditional Method. The wine undergoes eighty-four months of ageing on the lees, an essential phase to increase its structure and complexity. The low residual sugar, characteristic of the Extra Brut style, ensures a dry and highly precise profile. Served chilled, it pairs beautifully with refined seafood menus, enhancing shellfish and fine fish, while also proving versatile with vegetarian dishes.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1901, the Pedrotti winery celebrates its history with a label created to pay tribute to Paolo Pedrotti’s eightieth birthday and forty years of his production of Metodo Classico. This noble Riserva, awarded the prestigious 4 Viti AIS recognition, is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes grown in the mountain vineyard of Le Gere. The 2016 vintage reaches its fullest expression thanks to a patient 84-month maturation on the lees: a long rest that imparts extraordinary structure and elegant complexity to a truly authentic and exclusive Trentodoc.
