Description

What kind of wine is it

Salbanello by Paladin is a still red wine produced in Veneto by the founding family. This vegan and sustainable wine is created from a harmonious blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. In the glass, it displays a vibrant ruby colour, a prelude to a clear bouquet characterised by intense notes of blackcurrant and raspberry. On the palate, it is dry and smooth, supported by a well-balanced structure and a harmonious finish that offers velvety sensations, for an elegant and satisfying drink.

Where it comes from

The roots of this red wine lie in the Lison-Pramaggiore area, a historically renowned territory in Veneto. Paladin works with dedication in this region to enhance the unique features of the local landscape. Created to celebrate a sprite from local folklore, it is a staple for everyday dining. The natural versatility of this blend of international grape varieties makes it ideal for enhancing Mediterranean cuisine, effortlessly accompanying grilled meats, robust first courses and gourmet pizzas.

How it is produced

Production begins with a harvest of the grapes in a state of slight over-ripeness, aimed at enriching the aromatic expression. This is followed by vinification with a ten-day maceration on the skins, a crucial step to extract colour and softness. The subsequent fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, preserving some whole berries to enhance the purity and fragrance of the fruit. This meticulous technical approach imparts a remarkable aromatic freshness that perfectly balances with the juicy character, ensuring an extremely well-balanced sip.

History and Curiosities

Created in 2000 and inspired by a goblin from Venetian folklore, Salbanello embodies the authentic regional spirit. This outstanding wine, produced by Paladin, a family-run winery founded in 1962, magnificently enhances the terroir of Lison-Pramaggiore. The company follows a philosophy that skilfully blends tradition and innovation, offering a vegan and sustainable production. The constant commitment to quality by oenologist Antonio Lucarelli is celebrated by international critics, as demonstrated by the prestigious 94 points from Luca Maroni and 89 from James Suckling.

Paladin Vigne e Vini is the first winery of the whole Casa Paladin group, it’s a family owned estate founded by our father in 1962, in Motta di Livenza, near Treviso. It’s located at the boundaries of the Venetian land where we moved in the mid-70s, in Annone Veneto, a historic village located in the Roman Postumia road. The passion and love for vine and wine comes from our father, Valentino, who used to follow his grandfather, since he was a child, in the vineyards and in the cellar.

Passion, research, dedication and respect for traditions are the main values that have been guiding his philosophy since he created his own cellar. He was strongly determined to enhance the territorial typicalness of our Lison-Pramaggiore area, by producing excellent wines.
