Description

What kind of wine it is

Paladin Drago Rosso Merlot is a still red wine made exclusively from Merlot grapes. It has a structured and velvety profile, with the potential to evolve in the bottle for up to ten years. Its full and balanced style is made harmonious by careful processing, aimed at enhancing its natural fruity character. As a wine with a vegan profile, the production process ensures an enveloping sip, enriched by delicate tannins and a persistent finish.

Where it comes from

This red originates in the Annone Veneto area, in the heart of the Venice region. Its expression as a Varietal Wine of Italy highlights the strong connection between the grape variety and the Veneto territory. The Paladin winery, established in 1962, manages its vineyards with a strictly sustainable approach. The meticulous care in the vineyard is reflected in the superior quality of the grapes, cultivated with total respect for the environment.

How it is produced

Vinification begins in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, where maceration lasts for over eighteen days to extract colour and aromatic intensity. Subsequently, the wine matures through a carefully calibrated ageing in large wooden barrels, which enhances its tannic finesse. The deep ruby colour reveals clear notes of cherry, blueberry, plum and sweet spices. On the palate, its structure pairs elegantly with grilled red meats and mature cheeses.

History and Curiosities

Produced in Annone Veneto by the historic winery active since 1962, Paladin Drago Rosso Merlot embodies a pioneering vision. The result of a rigorous sustainable and vegan philosophy, this elegant red reflects the deep care dedicated to the estate's one hundred hectares. Maturation in large wooden barrels enhances its velvety smoothness, enriching the cherry notes with delicate spicy hints. An enveloping Varietal Wine of Italy with a balanced structure, ideal for accompanying grilled meats and mature cheeses.

Paladin Vigne e Vini is the first winery of the whole Casa Paladin group, it’s a family owned estate founded by our father in 1962, in Motta di Livenza, near Treviso. It’s located at the boundaries of the Venetian land where we moved in the mid-70s, in Annone Veneto, a historic village located in the Roman Postumia road. The passion and love for vine and wine comes from our father, Valentino, who used to follow his grandfather, since he was a child, in the vineyards and in the cellar.

Passion, research, dedication and respect for traditions are the main values that have been guiding his philosophy since he created his own cellar. He was strongly determined to enhance the territorial typicalness of our Lison-Pramaggiore area, by producing excellent wines.
