Description
What kind of wine is it
Pacher Hof's Pinot Grigio is a dry white wine produced in Trentino-Alto Adige, representing the Alto Adige Valle Isarco denomination. It displays a straw yellow colour and offers a fresh, harmonious profile, supported by good structure and the typical softness of the grape variety. On the nose, elegant floral notes stand out, accompanied by hints of apple and almond which, with maturation, give way to delicate nuances of walnut and honey. Ageing in large wooden barrels enriches the glass, ensuring a pleasantly delicate taste and a precise territorial expression.
Where does it come from
The Pinot Grigio grapes come from the slopes of Novacella, above Bressanone, in the Isarco Valley. The vineyards stretch between 650 and 900 metres, cultivated using the Guyot system with vines averaging twenty-five years old. The soil consists of permeable moraine deposits, enriched with mica schist, paragneiss and quartzite. This gravelly, mineral matrix gives the wine a pronounced aromatic complexity. The mountain microclimate and careful site selection ensure balanced ripening of the bunches. Here, the Huber family has practised historic viticulture rooted since 1142.
How is it produced
The manual harvest selects the best Pinot Grigio bunches for vinification that enhances the variety. After fermentation, the wine rests for six months in large wooden barrels, an ageing process that imparts roundness without altering freshness. The careful balance between residual sugars and acidity defines a fresh and harmonious sip, capable of enhancing the flavour profile.
History and Curiosities
Pacher Hof's Pinot Grigio is a highlight of mountain viticulture, reflecting the dedication of the Huber family, who have been cultivating vines in Novacella since 1142. This wine is produced from hand-picked grapes grown at altitudes between 650 and 900 metres, where the permeable moraine soils lend the clusters a refined elegance. Ageing continues in the cellar with a 6-month maturation in large 20-hectolitre wooden barrels, giving the wine a harmonious structure that perfectly enhances the authentic character of the Alpine region.
