Description
What kind of wine it is
Rosso Maniero by Ottaviano Lambruschi is a Ligurian red wine made from a blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Merlot. To the eye, it displays an intense ruby red colour, a prelude to an aromatic profile characterised by notes of red fruit, wild strawberries and dog rose. On the palate, it stands out for its smoothness and well-balanced acidity, supported by a pronounced savouriness that leads to a typically briny finish. This balance makes it a smooth and versatile wine, perfect for accompanying flavourful fish soups such as cacciucco or hearty land-based first courses.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in eastern Liguria, in the heart of the Colli di Luni denomination, in a hilly area situated between the municipalities of Castelnuovo Magra and Ortonovo. The vineyards benefit from a south-eastern exposure and are located at an altitude between one hundred and two hundred metres above sea level. The vines sink their roots into medium-textured clay soils, a characteristic of the terrain that gives the wine a solid structure and a pleasant fullness of flavour. Furthermore, the proximity to the coast imparts a maritime character to the grapes, defining the entire sensory profile.
How it is produced
Production begins with the late September harvest, when the grapes reach full ripeness. In the winery, the vinification process includes malolactic fermentation, an essential step to round out the wine's flavour and improve its stability, softening youthful harshness. The result is a wine that combines vibrant freshness with a harmonious profile. To best enhance the aromatic bouquet, it is recommended to decant for one hour before serving, at a temperature between eighteen and twenty degrees, or slightly cooler if paired with seafood dishes.
History and Curiosities
The only red wine produced by Ottaviano Lambruschi, the Colli di Luni DOC Maniero 2025 is born among the slopes of Castelnuovo Magra and Ortonovo. The result of a skilful blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Merlot, this elegant assemblage originates from the fertile clay soils of eastern Liguria, benefiting from an ideal exposure. The late September harvest and delicate malolactic fermentation give it a magnificent roundness and structure. Appreciated as a true sea red, it offers a vibrant and savoury sip, enhanced by an unmistakable marine character.

Supported by the invaluable enthusiasm of his brother Alessandro and endowed with remarkable professional skills, Ottaviano gradually succeeded in creating his first vineyard and producing his first wine — a bottling that already stood out as a symbol of excellence in the sector.
During the 1980s, Fabio, the founder’s son, earned a diploma in agricultural technology, giving him the opportunity to combine his innate passion with the most efficient production techniques. This allowed him to develop a modern and innovative winery that nevertheless preserved tradition, a precious heritage of the estate itself.
Over the years, the thriving Lambruschi enterprise expanded its holdings through the acquisition of vineyards located in the most prestigious areas of Ligurian viticulture. Meticulous care at every stage, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, together with rigorous grape selection, lends refinement and classic style to wines of the highest quality. Read more
