Description

What kind of wine it is

Romagna Sangiovese Modigliana Acereta by Mutiliana is a still red wine with Denomination of Controlled Origin that expresses the authenticity of the Romagna region, made from Sangiovese grapes and matured in concrete. To the eye, it displays a deep ruby red colour, which anticipates a bouquet characterised by aromas of cherry, raspberry and distinct undergrowth notes. On the palate, it reveals a compact structure and excellent persistence, finishing with a clean, fruity aftertaste. Capable of evolving for over a decade, it requires about an hour of decanting and should be served between 16 and 18°C to harmoniously accompany meat-based first courses, pork dishes and cheeses.

Where it comes from

This Romagna Sangiovese Modigliana originates from vineyards cultivated in the valleys of Acerata, Tramazzo and Ibola, located in the Modigliana area. The Mutiliana winery is part of the Stella dell’Appennino project, an association of winegrowers dedicated to the protection and enhancement of the landscape. Under the guidance of oenologist Francesco Bordini, the grapes benefit from the altitude to express a clear red fruit. The unique formation of these valleys gives the wine a profound gustatory continuity, faithfully reflecting the authentic identity of its place of origin.

How it is produced

The vinification of Romagna Sangiovese Modigliana Acereta begins with a careful selection of the bunches, followed by long macerations on the skins to extract its dense structure. Ageing takes place entirely in concrete vats, a deliberate choice to preserve the purity and characteristics of the Sangiovese without external aromatic interference. This rigorous technical approach enhances a clean, fruity finish.

A careful reading of the territory, Giorgio Melandri has designed and built vineyards in all three valleys (Acerata, Tramazzo, Ibola) that climb from Modigliana up to the Apennines, with the aim of producing three San.giovese, one for each valley, each bearing the originality of its vineyard.

The meticulous selection of grapes is followed by long macerations and only cement for ageing. Then the taste of waiting.

Mutiliana is part of the Stella dell'Appennino (Star of the Apennines) association, which brings together the municipality's rpdoutori (wine growers) and works to protect the territory and its wine production.

To enhance its robust structure, it is recommended to let it decant for an hour and to serve this fine Sangiovese at a temperature of 16-18 °C. At the table, it elegantly accompanies meat-based first courses and flavourful pork dishes. Its remarkable persistence on the palate and distinctly fruity finish also make it impeccable when paired with a rich selection of cheeses.
