Description

What kind of wine it is

The Champagne Grand Cru Rosé de Saignée Brut Nature L’Incandescent by Mouzon Leroux is an organic sparkling wine crafted according to the principles of the Traditional Method. It displays a bright orange hue, enhanced by a fine and persistent mousse. The bouquet combines fragrant notes of wild strawberry and pineapple with complex hints of brioche and yeast. On the palate, it expresses a dry character, revealing itself as rounded and full-bodied. The balance between lively savouriness and softness culminates in a gustatory persistence of great elegance.

Where it comes from

The wine originates in Verzy, in the prestigious area of the Grande Montagne de Reims. This terroir imparts a distinctive character to the Pinot Noir grapes, cultivated organically. The Mouzon Leroux family, with winemaking roots dating back to 1776, tend the land with dedication. The conditions of the Champagne designation allow for the harvest of grapes of absolute excellence, translating into the glass all the structure and finesse that define the identity of the Grand Cru of Verzy.

How it is produced

Vinification involves a twenty-five hour maceration. The must ferments spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, being divided between small oak barrels and vats. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for six months on the lees without any filtration. Ageing continues on racks for an average period of twenty-eight months. After disgorgement, the cuvée completes its evolution with a further six months of maturation in the cellar, ensuring maximum harmony of flavour.

History and Curiosities

The Incandescent by Mouzon-Leroux celebrates a family tradition rooted since 1776 in the renowned Grand Cru of Verzy. Produced in only 6,590 bottles for the 2021 vintage, it is an unfiltered Extra-Brut style that offers an authentic and top-level tasting experience. Rated 91 points by Robert Parker, it is an unmissable gem for every discerning collector.

Family winemakers since 1776, we carry on the necessary traditions of patience and traditional savoir-faire to produce fine Champagne. Today, three people lead our estate: Pascale, Philippe and Sébastien Mouzon. Within a 10-kilometre radius around our wine storehouse, we grow 10 hectares of vines on approximately 100 plots, which are spread mainly throughout four terroirs: 8 hectares in Verzy and the rest stretching into the areas of Verzenay, Ludes and Villers-Marmery. Seven grape varieties from the Champagne region perfect this diversity (Arbanne, Petit Meslier,Pinot gris, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir et Chardonnay).

The chemistry between the soil, climate and vines naturally create Champagne from the terroir with distinctive and authentic characteristics.
