Description
What kind of wine it is
Sansevè Satèn Franciacorta Brut by Monte Rossa is a sparkling wine made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. Produced according to the strict rules of the Traditional Method, it stands out for its reduced bottle pressure, which ensures a fine and persistent perlage. The aromatic bouquet weaves together scents of lily of the valley, citron and plum with hints of toasted hazelnuts, bread crust and aromatic herbs. The tasting reveals the silky texture typical of this style, offering a soft and enveloping palate. The sip is balanced by a fresh savouriness, leading to a creamy and elegant finish.
Where it comes from
This sparkling wine is born on the moraine hills of Franciacorta. The grapes come from twenty-two crus located in distinct areas, an agronomic choice that allows the blending of fruits with complementary aromatic expressions to enhance the wine's complexity. The glacial soils, enriched with fractions of sand and clay, impart a precise savoury note and a measured gustatory balance to the glass. The result of Monte Rossa winery's expertise, the wine bears an evocative name: Sansevè derives from an ancient Gaelic term that translates as a wish for good health.
How it is produced
The process begins with manual harvesting, followed by a gentle pressing that extracts only the noblest fraction of the must. Each cru is vinified separately to enhance its specific characteristics: fermentation takes place in steel tanks and, in part, within oak barrels. The final blend skilfully combines the wines of the vintage with precious reserves, enhancing the elegance of the Chardonnay. The prise de mousse in the bottle, true to the Traditional Method, is followed by ageing on the lees for at least twenty-four months. The Brut dosage and Satèn style shape a sip of pleasant softness.
History and Curiosities
Produced by the Monte Rossa winery, founded in 1972, Sansevè owes its name to an ancient Gaelic expression meaning “cheers!”. This elegant Traditional Method follows the strict Satèn protocol, using only Chardonnay grapes from the finest crus and vinified as a single varietal. Thanks to a maturation of at least 24 months on the lees at reduced pressure, the wine releases a refined and persistent perlage. On the palate, it is distinguished by an unmistakable silky texture, ideal for harmoniously accompanying sophisticated aperitifs, sushi, and raw fish dishes with its creamy smoothness.
