Description

What kind of wine it is

Masut da Rive Ribolla Gialla is a still white wine from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, made exclusively from the Ribolla Gialla grape variety. Produced by a family dedicated to viticulture since the early twentieth century, it expresses a clear and rigorous profile. On the nose, it offers intense complexity, dominated by a pronounced minerality intertwined with aromas of apple, white peach, acacia flowers and hints of aromatic herbs. On the palate, it develops with a pleasant freshness, supported by a persistent savouriness that leads to a satisfying and harmonious finish.

Where it comes from

The grapes are grown in Mariano del Friuli, in the heart of the Venezia Giulia area. In this region, the characteristics of the soil and climate give the wines a recognisable gustatory tension. Careful vineyard management allows the Masut da Rive winery to enhance the natural vocation of the area, delivering an aromatic character true to its land of origin. This precise geographical identity gives the wine remarkable longevity, allowing for an elegant evolution over time that preserves its original essence.

How it is produced

The process begins with the gentle pressing of whole grapes, a fundamental technique to preserve the aromatic integrity of the bunches. Afterwards, the must rests for static decantation at low temperatures, encouraging natural clarity. Fermentation and maturation take place in steel tanks, where the wine remains for a long time on its lees. This production choice gives structure to the palate and fixes the characteristic intense golden yellow colour, enhancing the expressiveness and freshness of the Ribolla Gialla variety.

History and Curiosities

The Masut da Rive winery, led by oenologists Fabrizio and Marco Gallo, is a leading example from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, boasting a family tradition dating back to 1900. Officially founded in 1995 in Mariano del Friuli, the estate cultivates twenty-two hectares of vineyard, skilfully combining historical expertise with modern taste. This pure Ribolla Gialla, produced in eighty thousand bottles, expresses the authentic soul of the region and, in addition to immediate appeal, guarantees a longevity of 3-5 years, offering an elegant evolution over time.

The Gallo family, who whose passion for cultivating growing vineyards and research in winery has been handed down generation after generation since 1900, have always been known as "Masùt da Rive". Their philosophy has revolved around a knowhow that while respecting the tradition of their forefathers however pays attention to the more evolved taste of the present day.

The wine estate’s 22 hectares of vineyards are nestled in the Isonzo valleys of Friuli. The estate lies along the 46th parallel, at the same latitude as Burgundy, which tends to spur in these winemakers, who are so mindful of the terroir’s vocation, not only to make great white wines but also to hold high the banner of Pinot Nero in Italy as well as throughout the world.
