Description
What kind of wine it is
Massolino Langhe Riesling is a still, vibrant white wine, able to elegantly interpret the character of Riesling in Piedmont. It presents a straw yellow colour and an aromatic profile defined by pronounced hydrocarbon and mineral notes, enriched by fresh fruit nuances. On the palate, it offers a vertical and savoury sip, supported by a marked acidity that prolongs its persistence. It pairs harmoniously with shellfish dishes, delicate fish and goat's cheeses.
Where it comes from
This white originates in the heart of the Langhe, in the area of Monforte d’Alba. The vineyards are located at high altitudes, between 550 and 600 metres, an ideal climate for preserving the freshness and verticality of the sip. The vines grow on calcareous-marl soils, a fundamental geological component that gives the wine its deep mineral imprint and varietal precision typical of this area.
How it is produced
The production process involves a rigorous manual harvest, followed by vinification carried out entirely in stainless steel tanks to maintain the purity of the aromas. The wine then matures through ageing on the lees for about eight to ten months. This prolonged rest enhances its structure and complexity, giving a taut and clean profile before the final bottling.
History and Curiosities
Active since 1896, the Massolino winery produces a prestigious Langhe Riesling that originates from the highest vineyards of Monforte d’Alba, located at an altitude of 600 metres. After meticulous hand harvesting, the wine is aged in steel for 8-10 months on the lees, acquiring structure and a vibrant freshness that enhances its typical mineral character. The excellence of the 2024 vintage is confirmed by the 89/100 score awarded by Wine Spectator.

With tenacity and passion, we have been making wine since 1896.
Azienda Agricola Massolino Vigna Rionda is the dream of our great-grandfather Giovanni, who founded the estate in 1896. In those days, it was a traditional Langa farm, producing fruit and vegetables, raising livestock and making wine.
Our family is firmly at the helm of the historic estate that inhaled the vibrant air full of change of the late 19th century and navigated the tides of the first half of the 20th century. Today, we face the new challenges of the 21st century, in the capable hands of the third and fourth generations.
We are Massolino Vigna Rionda and we are writing a legacy with our wines. Read more
