Description
What kind of wine it is
Barbaresco Albesani by Massolino is a still red wine from Piedmont made from Nebbiolo grapes. In the glass, it displays an intense garnet red colour, which heralds a deep and complex aromatic profile. The bouquet offers floral and red fruit notes, enriched by evocative hints of hay, spices and tobacco. On the palate, it is rich and elegant, revealing a character that is at times austere, perfectly balancing intensity with a solid structure. This expression of the region stands out for its remarkable longevity, ensuring an ageing potential capable of evolving for over a decade.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from Piedmont, in the renowned municipality of Neive. They originate from the historic Albesani vineyard, situated at around two hundred and thirty metres above sea level on medium-textured soils. These pedoclimatic conditions, combined with the presence of old vines, favour the ripening of Nebbiolo, enhancing its expressive clarity. The agronomic care reflects the dedication of Massolino, a winery active since 1896 that adopts careful, organic and sustainable management. The soil and exposure give the wine stylistic precision and vibrant energy.
How it is produced
The cellar process involves prolonged fermentation and maceration in oak vats at controlled temperatures. Maturation continues for eighteen months in large Slavonian oak casks, a choice that supports the dense tannic structure and preserves the elegance of the grape variety. This is followed by a targeted period of bottle ageing in the dark and cool. After decanting for an hour, it is best enjoyed between sixteen and eighteen degrees. It is the ideal pairing for game, truffle dishes, flavourful first courses, pork and fine aged cheeses.

With tenacity and passion, we have been making wine since 1896.
Azienda Agricola Massolino Vigna Rionda is the dream of our great-grandfather Giovanni, who founded the estate in 1896. In those days, it was a traditional Langa farm, producing fruit and vegetables, raising livestock and making wine.
Our family is firmly at the helm of the historic estate that inhaled the vibrant air full of change of the late 19th century and navigated the tides of the first half of the 20th century. Today, we face the new challenges of the 21st century, in the capable hands of the third and fourth generations.
We are Massolino Vigna Rionda and we are writing a legacy with our wines. Read more
