Description
What kind of wine it is
Marengo Barolo Brunate is a red wine from Piedmont with a ruby hue, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. On the nose, it reveals a complex bouquet, where notes of violet, tea rose, blackberries and ripe cherries are enriched by hints of chinotto, Szechuan pepper and earthy nuances of camphor and sandalwood. The palate is deep and seductive, characterised by a silky texture that evokes delicate hints of dried flowers. This wine offers a persistent finish, ideal for pairing with meat dishes, game and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This distinguished Barolo originates from the Piedmont hills and draws its identity from the renowned Brunate vineyard. The Marengo winery cultivates its plots in highly prized locations, managing a total of eight hectares of vineyards. The family's history in winemaking dates back to 1835 and has been strengthened over time through rigorous dedication. The constant care of the vines ensures an authentic expression of the terroir, maintaining direct control over every stage of work in the vineyard.
How it is produced
The winemaking process involves ageing for two years in small barrels, a fundamental choice to give the wine structure and depth. Under the guidance of oenologist Giuseppe Caviola, the production process aims to enhance finesse on the palate and ensure an estimated longevity that can exceed ten years. To fully appreciate its aromatic profile, it is recommended to decant the wine an hour before serving and enjoy it at a temperature between 18 and 20°C.
History and Curiosities
Since 1899, the historic Marengo family has been dedicatedly carrying on the art of viticulture, enhancing their vineyards nestled among the prestigious Piedmontese hills. Under the expert guidance of oenologist Giuseppe Caviola, a majestic Barolo DOCG is crafted from pure Nebbiolo grapes, carefully aged for two years in small wooden barrels. This wine not only enchants the senses, but also boasts an excellent ageing potential, estimated between ten and fifteen years. Its absolute excellence is widely recognised internationally, crowned by the prestigious 94 points from James Suckling.
