Description
What kind of wine it is
Marchesi di Gresy Langhe Nebbiolo Martinenga is a red wine that enhances the vibrant character of Nebbiolo. In the glass, it stands out for its bright ruby red colour, which anticipates an intense and persistent bouquet, rich in notes of strawberry, raspberry, black cherry and plum. On the palate, it is fresh, harmonious and medium-bodied, supported by a well-integrated tannic structure and a lively finish. This dynamic taste profile makes it ideal for accompanying an entire meal, particularly enhancing meats with rich sauces, cheeses and dishes of structured fish.
Where it comes from
This Piedmontese expression originates in the Langhe region, from grapes grown in the vineyards of the Marchesi di Gresy family, whose ownership has been documented since 1797. The land extends over thirty-five hectares between the estates of Monte Aribaldo in Treiso, La Serra and Monte Colombo in Cassine, reaching as far as Martinenga, in the heart of Barbaresco. The company's main winery is located here, where since 1973 wine production has been rigorously focused on identity and respect for the land.
How it is produced
Under the guidance of oenologist Marco Dotta, the grapes are processed in the main winery to faithfully express the terroir of origin. The winemaking choices aim for maximum varietal recognisability, resulting in a red wine capable of remarkable evolution over time, estimated between five and ten years. To best appreciate its aromatic complexity, it is recommended to decant for one hour. The ideal serving temperature is between 14 and 18°C, a condition that allows the flavour profile to reveal itself with great clarity.
History and Curiosities
The family has managed the Tenute Cisa Asinari dei Marchesi di Grésy since 1797, beginning the production of excellent wines in 1973. In the Martinenga cellar, located in the heart of Barbaresco, grapes from the 35 hectares of estate vineyards are vinified. Under the guidance of oenologist Marco Dotta, traditional winemaking deeply respects nature to enhance the varietal identity. This results in labels of great longevity, ideal for accompanying an entire meal with elegant authenticity.

The vineyards are situated in the Langhe and Monferrato areas, which are recognized as the home of Piedmont's greatest wines.
The four estates are: Martinenga in the heart of Barbaresco, Monte Aribaldo in Treiso, Cuneo province, La Serra and Monte Colombo in Cassine, Alessandria province.
Grapes from all the estate vineyards are brought to the central winery at Martinenga to be made into high quality wines with the greatest respect for tradition and nature, where the aim is to faithfully transfer as much as possible of the identity of the terroir and the varietal into the bottle.
Our company is able to produce wines to accompany the entire meal, each one the expression of the character and personality of its terrain of origin. Meticulous work in the vineyard and the cellar means our red and white wines can also be enjoyed several years after bottling.
Although our wines can be found all over the world, the best way to taste them is still in their place of origin, and we invite you to come and see us at the winery. A visit to Martinenga, with a walk through the rows of vines, a tour of the barrel cellar and a stop in our tasting room will explain much more than words ever can. You are very welcome. Read more
