Description
What type of wine it is
The Donna Cora Satèn by Montenisa is a white wine from Lombardy that perfectly embodies the essence of Franciacorta. Produced following the strict criteria of the Metodo Classico (Traditional Method), it is born from a refined blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In the glass, it is distinguished by a dense and velvety mousse, enriched by a fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet offers delicate floral notes, white peach and a slight nuance of almond, while on the palate it proves to be harmonious, supported by a lively and enveloping freshness.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the Montenisa Estate, located south of Lake Iseo in the heart of Lombardy, in Cazzago San Martino. The favourable microclimate of this area allows the grapes to ripen optimally, developing a clear and deep aromatic profile. This territory is ideal for the Metodo Classico, where the winemaking vocation aims to achieve an impeccable balance of flavour.
How it is produced
Production begins with a soft pressing of whole bunches to extract only the free-run Chardonnay must. The first fermentation takes place partly in steel tanks and partly in small barrels, giving the wine greater structure and complexity. In the following spring, the second fermentation in the bottle begins according to the Metodo Classico. This is followed by long ageing on the lees for sixty months, a fundamental step to achieve that gustatory harmony and silky creaminess that characterise the Satèn style.

The most important building is undoubtedly the 'Palazzetto Maggi' built in the 16th century and frescoed by the Lattanzio Gambara (1530-1574) from Brescia. This building is located in the centre of two large courtyards enclosed by porticoes.
The small church of Santo Stefano is also part of the estate. It is on the hill of the same name and overlooks the village: immersed in greenery amidst vineyards, this thousand-year-old parish church, with its Greek-cross plan, has for centuries preserved the tombs of the local noble Calini family.
