Description
What kind of wine it is
Antinori's Cuvée Royale is an elegant and harmonious Franciacorta, an authentic expression of the Lombardy region. This Brut sparkling wine is crafted from a refined blend of grapes including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc. On tasting, it reveals a fine and persistent perlage, accompanied by a fragrant bouquet reminiscent of white-fleshed peach, subtle floral hints and delicate notes of bread crust. Its lively palate offers a balanced sip, making this Traditional Method ideal for pairing with fish tartare and vegetarian starters.
Where it comes from
This sparkling wine is produced at the Montenisa Estate, located south of Lake Iseo in the heart of Franciacorta. The historic vineyards surround the ancient village of Calino and stretch along the hill of Santo Stefano, an area long renowned for its winemaking excellence. The estate preserves centuries-old landmarks such as the Palazzetto Maggi, highlighting its deep connection with the landscape. The careful agronomic management implemented by Antinori aims to enhance the natural vocation of the land, allowing the vines to express a natural elegance.
How it is produced
Production begins with meticulous hand harvesting, followed by destemming and pressing to extract the free-run must. The first fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature to preserve aromatic precision. The wine then follows the steps of the Traditional Method, undergoing a second fermentation in the bottle with ageing on the lees for thirty-six months. Finally, the practice of remuage on pupitres and disgorgement complete the journey of a Brut with remarkable roundness.
History and Curiosities
Born from the historic meeting in 1999 between the Antinori family and the Maggi counts, the Cuvée Royale enhances the ancient Montenisa Estate, transforming a noble heritage into a winemaking excellence. This fine Franciacorta DOCG matures for 36 months on the lees with the traditional remuage, releasing a lively freshness and a fine and persistent perlage that envelops the palate. The intoxicating notes of white peach and bread crust, accompanied by delicate floral touches, define a harmonious Metodo Classico, ideal for enhancing the taste of refined aperitifs.

The most important building is undoubtedly the 'Palazzetto Maggi' built in the 16th century and frescoed by the Lattanzio Gambara (1530-1574) from Brescia. This building is located in the centre of two large courtyards enclosed by porticoes.
The small church of Santo Stefano is also part of the estate. It is on the hill of the same name and overlooks the village: immersed in greenery amidst vineyards, this thousand-year-old parish church, with its Greek-cross plan, has for centuries preserved the tombs of the local noble Calini family.
