Description
What kind of wine it is
Mamete Prevostini Gus is a sparkling wine made using the Traditional Method (Metodo Classico), pas dosé, which harmoniously blends Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow hue, enlivened by a dynamic and continuous perlage. The bouquet offers fruity aromas intertwined with lively citrus notes, introducing a tasting experience marked by pronounced freshness. The absence of dosage enhances the purity of the sip, which finishes with a satisfying mineral finish, faithfully reflecting the clarity of the original fruit.
Where it comes from
This sparkling wine originates in Valtellina, Lombardy, a region renowned for mountain viticulture. The vines grow at around four hundred metres above sea level, where temperature variations encourage the aromatic richness of the grapes. In this setting, Mamete Prevostini cultivates its vineyards, contending with the typical slopes of the terrain. This Alpine character imparts a pronounced vertical drive and a clear aromatic definition to the wine, ensuring a dynamic drink that fully expresses its territorial identity.
How it is produced
Vinification strictly follows the principles of the Traditional Method, with a slow secondary fermentation in the bottle that shapes the structure of the sparkling wine. The process concludes with a pas dosé disgorgement, without the addition of sugars, to preserve a taut and dry profile. This production choice results in bubbles of extreme precision and excellent gustatory tension. Thanks to the care taken at every stage, the wine boasts remarkable ageing potential, able to mature over a period of between five and ten years.

In 1988, however Mamete nephew, the current owner, took over the company's reins, and after a series of tests lasted about eight years signed his first real production in 1995, becoming within a decade a wine draft exceptional value. Today, all the wines are aged in a different way, according to unwritten rules but that are renewed year after year. Elegance, refinement, power for a great interpretation of Nebbiolo in Valtellina.
